Toyin F. SanniGroup Chief Executive Officer

Toyin has served for over four years as Group Chief Executive Officer of United Capital Plc (formerly UBA Capital Plc), a leading African Investment Banking group listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange comprising market leading business divisions in Investment Banking, Trust, Asset Management and Securities Divisions.

Toyin chairs the Financial Literacy Technical Committee (FLTC) of the Nigerian Capital Market. She is also the President of the Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM); and Founder/Chairperson of Women in Finance Nigeria (WIFng) – an advocacy and development platform for women in the Nigerian financial sector.

She was named the All African Business Woman of the Year 2017 by CNBC Africa; and Nigeria’s CEO of the Year by Pearl Awards becoming the first female CEO to win the Award in its 22-year history. She also led her company to win the Best Corporate Governance, Highest Dividend Yield and Sectoral Award categories, clinching the Best Overall Company Award. Toyin also won the BusinessDay Top 25 CEO on the NSE Award in 2014, 2015 and 2016, amongst many other awards.

Before her appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer of United Capital, Toyin was Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA Trustees & Global Investor Services for 8 years during which she grew the Trust business from startup to a clear market leader. She also established and grew UBA’s domestic custody business to top 3 industry position.

Prior to her time at UBA Trustees, she was Managing Director of Cornerstone Trustees Limited where she established and supervised the Cornerstone group’s trusts, asset management equipment leasing businesses. She also served as Assistant General Manager – Trust Services at First Trustees, a part of the FBN Holdings Group, between 1999 and 2003.

Her other past roles include Chairperson, Annual Capital Market Retreat and Conference (2012-2014), President, Association of Trustees, Chairman, Committee on Custody of Securities and Member, National Bond Steering Committee amongst others.

Toyin sits on several Boards and has served on several industry and regional committees.

Toyin obtained her first degree in Law from the University of Ife, Nigeria in 1984, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985 and also obtained a Masters degree in Law from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1998. She has participated in various executive education programs such as the Chief Executive Program, Lagos Business School (2017); Global AMP-CEP, IESE Business School (2017); Building and Sustaining a Successful Enterprise through Disruptive Innovation Strategy, Harvard Business School (2016); and Global Strategic Leadership Program, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2015). Kolapo JosephNon-Executive Director

Kolapo Joseph is an astute investment banker and financial services expert with over a decade of experience. Passion, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence are the four keywords that drive Kolapo Joseph-a DNA. Over, the years, they have played a significant role in shaping a career that spans different investment banking areas and projects across Africa.

 

Kolapo started his career at Vetiva Capital Management (one of Nigeria’s leading independent investment banks) where he joined as a pioneer staff and rose to the Deputy Head of Investment Banking Division. He was the pioneer Head of the Capital Markets and Advisory Unit when the company won several investment bank industry awards.

 

In 2011, Kolapo joined United Capital Plc formerly UBA Capital Plc. As the Director and Head, Project and Infrastructure Finance at United Capital Plc, he successfully built the Project and Infrastructure Division to one of the leading (top 3) energy and infrastructure teams in Nigeria. Raising over US$10 billion for clients.

 

In his current capacity as the Chief, Corporate Finance and Development Officer at North South Power Company Limited, Kolapo is responsible for developing and driving the company’s strategy and finance related activities.

 

Kolapo graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park and has an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

 

Owing to his experience and exploits in the last 18 years, Kolapo Joseph sits on the board of several companies including CEC Africa Investments, Emerging Africa Capital, Crevance Credit Limited, Fundall Technology Solutions, Treasures Microfinance Bank and Black Knight Holdings Limited. Kolapo continues to work to tackle two major issues that can drive Africa’s success story- power and finance.

Cecilia MaduekeChairman

Mrs. Cecilia Madueke is the Company Secretary of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, a position she
has held since May 2011. Before Julius Berger, she worked with Royal Exchange Plc until
October 2009 in various capacities, her last assignment being Group Executive Director
(ERM & CG). She also had a stint with Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc where she started her career
in 1987.

She is a graduate of the University of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England and she was
called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. She is a certified mediator of the Lagos Multi-Door
Court House and a Member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (Nigeria Branch).
She is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and the Oxford University Business
Economics Programme (OUBEP).

Mrs. Madueke is active in the Nigerian capital markets scene and serves on market
committees including the Committee on Multiple Subscriptions to Public Offers.

Olusegun SanniNon-Executive Director

Segun is an experienced Economist with over 28 years’ experience in the Money & Capital Markets. He possesses a Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Economics (Unilag) as well as a Masters Degree (MBF) in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan. Prior to joining Lakewood Investments & Trusts as Managing Director, Segun Sanni was a General Manager at StanbicIBTC Nigeria and a Director with the Standard Bank of South Africa Group.

His banking experience spanned Cash Management, Branch Management and Investment Management at African International Bank, Oceanic Bank, Stanlib Financial Services, and StanbicIBTC Bank where he served for 12 years as Head, Investor (Custody) Services and Managing Director, StanbicIBTC Nominees Ltd. He is credited with having turned around the Custody Business of the Bank from a small struggling business to an overwhelming market leader with assets exceeding N3Trillion at its peak. He undertook several international strategic leadership trainings, including the Harvard Business School Authentic Leadership programme in 2014. Segun is a Director of Hartford Green Consulting Ltd, an SAP Gold Partner firm.

Segun was the immediate past Chairman of the Rules and Compliance Sub-Committee of the Capital Market Committee (CMC) of the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and is currently Chairman of the banking industry-wide Project Steering Committee (Steerco) of the Electronic Certificate of Capital Importation (E-CCI) for all foreign investors bringing loans, equipment, and investible funds into the Nigerian investment market. This committee is made up of senior officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and all banks operating in the country. The committee expects to deliver the electronic CCI to Nigeria before the end of Q1 2017.

Oluseyi AdewaleNon-Executive Director

Seyi Adewale is the CEO Mainstream Cargo Limited, a Freight Forwarding and Customs Licensed Company.

He is an experienced Aviation Professional having served in prior Leadership positions at Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) PLC in the last 7 years. Positions held include Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Ag. Managing Director Q3-2016, and GM/CEO of Mainland Cargo Options Limited (MCO), a subsidiary company of NAHCO Plc.

Seyi held other leadership positions such as Council Member of Association of African Aviation Training Organization (AATO), incorporated under the African Union (AU) Charter to harmonize aviation training and create continent wide standards across Africa. Seyi serves alongside 12 other Council Members for a 3 year tenure (2016-2019).

Seyi is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Full Member Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Full Member Nigerian Institute of Training & Development and Associate Member Association of Pension Funds of Nigeria.

An alumnus of the prestigious University of Ibadan (MILR) and University of Ilorin (Bsc Hons), Seyi is a strategic management professional and he has attended, facilitated as resource person or panelist in many international conferences, workshops and/ or seminars. Courses attended include Making Strategy Work at The Wharton (Executive) School, Philadelphia, Aviation Law at IATA Management School, Florida where he bagged a distinction; IATA SGHA/ SLA & Negotiation Skills and IATA Station/ Ground Handling Management

Lucien MoolenaarNon-Executive Director

Lucien is a corporate finance and private equity lawyer with blue chip private practice and
investment banking experience in London, New York and across Africa. He has practiced
corporate law at Sullivan & Cromwell and Rogers & Wells and has extensive experience
advising investment banks, fund managers, corporate clients and private investors on a wide

range of complex transactions in the UK, Europe and Africa. Lucien also spent six years in
senior leadership positions at Renaissance Capital, the emerging markets investment bank
based in London.

As Executive Director and Head of Legal for Africa & Markets, Lucien helped develop and
execute the firm’s strategy and its expansion to seven countries in Africa and the Middle
East. He also provided strategic counsel on complex restructuring transactions involving
various businesses within the Renaissance Group. Before joining Renaissance Capital,
Lucien was a Director in the Investment Banking Legal Department of Merrill Lynch in
London and Johannesburg. Lucien has served on a number of company boards, risk and
audit committees and management boards and has gained extensive corporate governance
experience in the financial services sector, providing strategic advice across several
business lines.

He was also a Co-Founder and Director of Emerging Crowd, the London based fintech firm
focusing on emerging markets. European FinTech Top 100 winner in 2016, the firm
advised and raised capital for SMEs in the UK, Africa and Asia. Lucien graduated from
Harvard University and Fordham Law School and is an active member of the New York
Bar.

Mallam Mahmoud BelloChairman

Mallam Mahmoud Kpako Bello (Talban Nupe) worked in the Niger State Civil Service, from 2005 and rose to the position of Permanent Secretary before he Retired in 2013. He also Served as Commissioner and Member of SEC in Niger State.

Prior to this, he served in the Intercity Bank Plc from 1991 and rose to the post of Deputy General Manager before he retired in 2003. He also worked in Ecobank Nig. Plc from 1987 to 1990. Also, he worked with the International Merchant Bank Plc between 1986 to 1987. He worked with National Electric Power Authority from 1978 to 1986. He also worked with the Niger State Judiciary from 1978 to 1986.

Some of his professional memberships include; Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria and the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria. He is a member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
He holds the Traditional Title of Talban Nupe under Bida Emirate Council of Etsu Nupe.

Dr. Joe MekiliuwaNon-Executive Director

Mr. Joe Mekiliuwa holds a B.Sc Degree in Computer Science from the University of Benin, Benin City, Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Computer Science from the University of Lagos, Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy M.(ILD) from University of Lagos, Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Management , from Aldersgate College, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, etc , Joe is an Alumnus of Lagos Business School, Lagos, Nigeria, an Alumnus of London Business School, UK, etc.

He is also a Fellow Chartered Stockbroker (FCS), Professional member at Companion level from UK International Professional Institutes, Companion, IMS(UK) – Institute of Mgt Specialist, C.PBTM(UK) – Professional Business & Technical Mgt, C.AEA(UK) – The Academy of Executives & Administrators, Comp.AMS(UK) -The Academy of Multi-Skills, Fellow -Institute of Mgt Consultants, Full Member – Chartered Nigeria Institute of Management. He has attended several professional courses/training in various fields in IT, CSD Infrastructures, Database Mgt System, Capital Market Dynamics, etc in Europe, North and South America, Asia, etc.

He has also led several committees on Capital Market initiatives and has played strategic role in Nigeria & West African Capital Market developments. He is versatile in CSD operations and has delivered papers locally and internationally.

Mr. Mekiliuwa is one of the pioneer staff members involved in the implementation of the CSD System of the Central Securities Clearing System Plc, Nigeria. He has been involved in a lot of Capital Market development initiatives and implementations. He is currently the General Manager IT & Operations.

Funmbi AkinluyiNon-Executive Director

Senior Manager, Membership Services, The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

Funmbi is an astute and seasoned professional. His experience spans North America & Nigeria across various roles. In his current role, Funmbi is responsible for driving membership growth via the coordination of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria’s Zonal Offices, State, Satellite and International Branches. He has served on various committees including the Membership Development & Services Committee (MD & SC) as well as the Board of Fellows & Practice Licence. He is also directly responsible for the planning and execution of strategic stakeholder engagement programs.

Prior to joining CIBN, Funmbi worked with the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) where he was also responsible for the acquisition and retention of new members. At the CIS, Funmbi was responsible for the planning and execution of various strategic initiatives. He served as a member of several committees, including the planning committee for the Annual Stockbrokers Conference.

Funmbi also worked as a research associate for the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service, Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA. He was responsible for performing cost-benefit analysis for public welfare projects.

Funmbi has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Valdosta State University, Valdosta, Georgia and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, USA.

Funmbi is passionate about eradicating poverty, empowering the less privileged and international relations. His other interests include reading, teaching, travelling and aviation.

Chief Dr Mrs Onikepo Akande, CONGroup Chairman

Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nike Akande OON, CON, is a renowned Industrialist and Investment Expert. Former President described her as “A role model and an Inspiration”. She has had a distinguished career in Nigeria’s business landscape and her CV can best be described as intimidating. She has participated in a number of International Trade and Investment fora both Overseas and in Nigeria.

Born in Lagos to the family of late Mr Alfred Adisa of Ile Oluwo, Afobaje of Ibadan (The traditional kingmakers) and late Mrs. Jadesola Adisa nee Aboderin. She is the first of four children and also the first grandchild of the wealthy and famous Ibadan business woman, late Iyaafin Janet Alatede Aboderin. Her siblings are Olori Moji Abass, Mrs. Olaide Ogundipe-Alatise and Ms. Mercy Adisa.

Chief Dr Mrs. Nike Akande OON, CON attended Queen’s school, Ede from 1958-1962 for her secondary education, Chief Dr. Nike Akande later attended the University of North London from 1965-1968 where she studied Accountancy. She did her postgraduate programme at the prestigious Harvard Business School, Boston, USA. She also attended a management development course at Oxford University, United Kingdom, and an Advance Management Course, at International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland and Insead Business School at Abu Dhabi, UAE.

She was the first Nigerian Woman to be appointed Minister of Industry.

Fadeke OlugbemiNon-Executive Director

Mrs. Olugbemi is an experienced Business Executive with about twenty-five years work experience. Her experience spans across telecoms, finance, investment and treasury roles. She is currently the Head, Investment & Portfolio Management at Honeywell Group. Toyin chairs the Financial Literacy Technical Committee (FLTC) of the Nigerian Capital Market. She is also the President of the Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM); and Founder/Chairperson of Women in Finance Nigeria (WIFng) – an advocacy and development platform for women in the Nigerian financial sector.

She was named the All African Business Woman of the Year 2017 by CNBC Africa; and Nigeria’s CEO of the Year by Pearl Awards becoming the first female CEO to win the Award in its 22-year history. She also led her company to win the Best Corporate Governance, Highest Dividend Yield and Sectoral Award categories, clinching the Best Overall Company Award. Toyin also won the BusinessDay Top 25 CEO on the NSE Award in 2014, 2015 and 2016, amongst many other awards.

Before her appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer of United Capital, Toyin was Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA Trustees & Global Investor Services for 8 years during which she grew the Trust business from startup to a clear market leader. She also established and grew UBA’s domestic custody business to top 3 industry position.

Prior to her time at UBA Trustees, she was Managing Director of Cornerstone Trustees Limited where she established and supervised the Cornerstone group’s trusts, asset management equipment leasing businesses. She also served as Assistant General Manager – Trust Services at First Trustees, a part of the FBN Holdings Group, between 1999 and 2003.

Her other past roles include Chairperson, Annual Capital Market Retreat and Conference (2012-2014), President, Association of Trustees, Chairman, Committee on Custody of Securities and Member, National Bond Steering Committee amongst others.

Mrs. Oghogho OsulaNon-Executive Director

Mrs. Oghogho Osula holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Benin, Edo State in 1990 and an MBA from the prestigious Lagos Business School (Pan Atlantic University), Lagos in 2019. Oghogho’s professional career began as a credit officer with Bullion Trust & Securities Limited in 1992 and she has subsequently garnered over 28 years’ experience across Corporate Banking, Trusteeship, Asset Management and Investors’ Management. Oghogho served in the capacity of the Managing Director of Coronation Trustees Limited between 2017 to 2018 where she developed and started implementation of 5-year strategic business plan, grew Asset Under Management (AuM) from ₦4b to ₦9.2 billion and developed Assets Under Custody of N127 billion. In 2019, Oghogho founded OO Value Investment where she creates Family Wealth Management strategies for clients. Oghogho is a member of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and Institute of Directors.

Dr. Lukman AdamNon-Executive Director

Dr. Lukman Adam holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ilorin and University of Lagos in 1987 and 2005 respectively, he also holds an MBA & a Ph.D. in Economics both from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State in 2003 and 2018 respectively. Lukman’s career began as an Economic Correspondent with the Nigerian Economist in 1989 after which he made his way into the corporate sector working for over a decade with companies such as Deloitte and Trade Bank Plc.

 

Lukman commenced his career in the academic field as a Research Fellow II at the University of Ilorin in 2005, he further served as Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kwara State on SME Development for 4 years. With over 10 publications in his name, Lukman currently works as a Senior Research Fellow at the Kwara State University. He also serves on the board of Ilorin Microfinance Bank. Lukman is a fellow of the Chartered institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB).

Olusegun SanniNon Executive Director

Segun is an experienced Economist with over 28 years’ experience in the Money & Capital Markets. He possesses a Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Economics (Unilag) as well as a Masters Degree (MBF) in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan. Prior to joining Lakewood Investments & Trusts as Managing Director, Segun Sanni was a General Manager at StanbicIBTC Nigeria and a Director with the Standard Bank of South Africa Group.

His banking experience spanned Cash Management, Branch Management and Investment Management at African International Bank, Oceanic Bank, Stanlib Financial Services, and StanbicIBTC Bank where he served for 12 years as Head, Investor (Custody) Services and Managing Director, StanbicIBTC Nominees Ltd. He is credited with having turned around the Custody Business of the Bank from a small struggling business to an overwhelming market leader with assets exceeding N3Trillion at its peak. He undertook several international strategic leadership trainings, including the Harvard Business School Authentic Leadership programme in 2014. Segun is a Director of Hartford Green Consulting Ltd, an SAP Gold Partner firm.

Segun was the immediate past Chairman of the Rules and Compliance Sub-Committee of the Capital Market Committee (CMC) of the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and is currently Chairman of the banking industry-wide Project Steering Committee (Steerco) of the Electronic Certificate of Capital Importation (E-CCI) for all foreign investors bringing loans, equipment, and investible funds into the Nigerian investment market. This committee is made up of senior officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and all banks operating in the country. The committee expects to deliver the electronic CCI to Nigeria before the end of Q1 2017.

Adaku IjaraManaging Director, EAAML

Ada possesses 14+ years of experience spanning roles in treasury marketing, consumer banking, private banking, business development, legal compliance and trusteeship. As a trained lawyer and following several years working in various industries, she has a fresh, wholesome but analytical & thorough approach to issues of wealth creation, succession planning and wealth generational management for high and ultra-high net worth individuals. Ada is brilliant at managing various assets held in trusts, estates and agency accounts: including possession of assets, coordinating management, evaluating investment potential and recommending investment policies. She has built an admirable track record in the execution of corporate strategies, customer and portfolio management.
Prior to her role at Emerging Africa Capital Group, she served as Head, Private Trust at United Capital Trustees – a member of the United Capital Group, focused on trust administration and investment management services.
Ada is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a fellow of the Global Academy of Finance & Management (GAFM).

Felicia Ine SonubiDeputy Managing Director EAC Trustees

Felicia was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 and holds an LL.B Degree from the
University of Jos. She was the former Managing Director/CEO of Apel Capital & Trust Ltd
(formerly Bank PHB Trustees Ltd), Former Managing Director/CEO of Oceanic Trustees
Nigeria Limited (a subsidiary of Oceanic Bank International Plc.).
In the course of her career in the Trust Industry, she also held the positions of Head, Trust Services in ALM Consulting Limited, Company Secretary/Head of Trust Services in Cornerstone Trustees Limited.
She cut her teeth in Corporate Legal Practice at various levels in the Legal Department of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc after being called to the Nigerian Bar.
Felicia has attended various courses in Banking Law, Loan Documentation & Credit
Administration, Debt Recovery, Fundamentals of Investment Portfolio Management and
Real Estate Investment Trusts.
She facilitates at varied fora on Trusts and Trust Transactions. She is also passionate about mentoring the next generation as they are the future.
Felicia brings on board her experience in the Trusteeship of Public, Corporate and Private Trusts as well as over two (2) decades of Corporate Legal experience.

Ogochukwu OdumTeam Lead, Deal Execution (Investment Banking), EAC Advisory Limited

Mr. Odum obtained his LL.B. from the University of Lagos in 2012 and was called to the Nigerian Bar Association in 2013. He started out his career at a reputable law firm – SimmonsCooper Partners (SCP) where he practiced diverse aspects of law including corporate and commercial law, capital markets advisory and compliance, dispute resolution and company secretariat amongst others.

He joined FMDQ Securities Exchange in 2017 as legal and company secretariat officer. At FMDQ, he provided support to the Company Secretary and was responsible for organising executive management meetings, board and board committee meetings and annual general meeting as well as drafting all associated paper works.

He joined Emerging Africa Capital in August 2018 as a Team Member, Advisory and was deployed to the Company in April 2019.

Damola OlatunjiCompany Secretary, EAC Trustees Limited & Emerging Africa Asset Management Limited

Damola Olatunji is currently the Acting Company Secretary of EAC Trustees Limited. He has been in active practice for 5 years and has garnered experience in diverse areas of law including corporate and commercial law, property law, compliance, company secretariat amongst others. Damola obtained his L.L.B degree from Lagos State University and was called to the bar in 2014.

He started out his career at Portland Paints & Products Nigeria Plc where he took on a role as the sole in-house legal officer in the business unit and effectively handled legal drafting, review and advisory for the Company.

Prior to joining the EAC Group, He was an Associate, Trust Services at Lakewood Investments & Trusts Limited, and an Associate Counsel at Candid Forte Chambers.
